🔧 Radar products are available with a delay because a station is out of service for maintenance work

The Monte Lema weather radar is temporarily out of service to allow extraordinary maintenance work to be carried out on the radar tower. The work has started on 13 October 2026 and is expected to last two weeks. Throughout the entire period of the works, the Monte Lema weather radar is not operational.

The region normally monitored by the Monte Lema radar will, however, continue to be observed by the weather radars located at Plaine Morte (VS) and Weissfluhgipfel (GR). Radar coverage of the region will therefore be maintained throughout the interruption. Due to the greater distance of these radars from the affected region, the quality and level of detail of the observations may nevertheless be temporarily reduced. In particular, radar products based on measurements from Monte Lema may be subject to limitations in terms of the quality and availability of the information. MeteoSwiss will endeavour to ensure, as far as possible, continuity of radar monitoring of the region throughout the duration of the works.

Once the radar station is back in operation, we expect the radar products to be available within an average of 2 minutes again - rather than 4.5 minutes, as is currently the case.
