1.1.7

♻️ New Open Data landing page

The new Open Data landing page makes all datasets more easily accessible via a filterable list.

  • Datasets that are not yet available but are planned are marked with the label Announced. The planned quarter or half-year is specified in the relevant documentation; see, for example, the radiosoundings
  • Datasets that are available but not yet definitive can be marked with the label Experimental; currently we do not have any such cases.

♻️ Open Data service roadmap for Q3-2026 is updated

See what we plan to work on and when

Important note: It captures intent, not solutions. The further into the future a thing will take place, the more uncertain it is.

🏃‍♀️ MeteoSwiss’ Open Data Service: One Year On – A Review and Outlook

Since the launch of our Open Data Service on 22 May 2025 (Video), new datasets have been added step by step:

The use of open weather and climate data is growing steadily, and the feedback has been very encouraging.

Behind the scenes, MeteoSwiss has invested heavily in the scalability and stability of the platform to ensure the service remains reliable and performing well – even as the volume of data and the number of users grow.

Here’s what we’ll be working on in the coming months:

  • New datasets: Atmospheric Measurement Data and additional Radar Products
  • Integrated monitoring of data availability
  • A feature API for local forecast data (in collaboration with swisstopo)
  • An EDR API for the ICON-EPS-CH1 and -CH2 numerical weather models

📝 Documentation

  • To provide adequate information about the current, upcoming, and future developments of the Open Data Service, a roadmap has been added
  • It is updated at least every three months

1.0.9

📝 Documentation

  • To announce updates for ICON-CH1/2-EPS forecasts and log changes, a dedicated page has been added to the Open Data documentation
